Palm Pre will = Fail
As everyone knows, the Palm Pre will be coming out on Sprint some time in the next few months. What many might not know is which plan you will be able to get. Lucky for me, I have a friend that works for Sprint and knows.
So I’m betting you want to know, well here is it. The minimum plan that you can use with the Palm Pre is the Simply Everything Plan. Yes, the $99/month plan. From what I have seen, many people will not like this since the iPhone on At&t is less then that and you can get discounts if you really try.
The only way Sprint and Palm will get even close to what the iPhone and even Blackberry have, Sprint will need to either increase the soft cap on data (5GB) per month or come out with a new Plan just for the Pre. If they do not, Palm will go semi silently into the night and will not come back.
Palm needs to have a GSM version on its tails of release on Sprint also. Even if its outside the USA, there will not be enough customers to purchase it on CDMA alone.
We will have to wait and see what comes next and maybe just maybe Sprint will say something about this.

Yes, Sprint will require either a Simply Everything Plan ($99/month) OR an Everything Data Plan ($69 or $89/month for 450 or 900 minutes)… Most websites have already published that information. Take a look at the very informative blog Inside Sprint Now over at
http://insidesprintnow.wordpress.com/2009/04/28/palm-pre-monthly-service-plans/
Also as a contrast to AT&T’s plans which charge $20/month EXTRA for unlimited text messaging, Sprint’s Everything plans all include unlimited text messaging…
You only have to have an everything data plan starting at 69.99 for 450 min. with unlimited messaging, gps, tv premier, music premier, and data. Iphone plan is $30 more for the same on at&t.
Well, we can hope that it stays that way. They were saying it may not be eligible for the everything data plan.
Obviously your Sprint insider doesn’t know what has already be announced to the public (by Sprint) for two months now. The link has already been posted by previous commentors, so I’m not going to repeat it.
Unlucky for you, your Pre bashing is full of fail.
The best part is that im not against the Pre, i want Palm to stay in business. The Blackberry and iPhone need a run for their money. I just want them to realize that they need to see what the customer wants and not just what their wallets want.
